Adopt Don't shop

Before Design Lab Academy, I had to test into the program due to a hiatus. They gave me an assignment regarding designing a pet rescue site.

The only thing they provided was the prompt and the name had to be DYR.

This was a time where I had no knowledge of UX research and only based on my ability of Design Lab Foundations program.

I started out designing the homepage first. I got my inspiration from a photo I found and experimented with different color palettes.

Adoption is usually elicits both emotions of sadness and happiness but I knew I wanted to lean into “happiness”. I wanted to make the website fun and vivid.

I really wanted to leave an impression, so I learned how to do a carousal to feature dogs on the main page.

This was my first project where I learned how to prototype out hover states on desktop version including a carousal. Also for mobile version, I learned how to prototype a menu button with links. I learned a lot from this project and in hindsight I did a few UX research tasks that I didn’t even know about. Overall, I’m very happy with the outcome of my project and needless to say...I got into the program!
